Jane's Maple Leaf block Project is now officially called the Canadian Comfort and Remembrance Project (CCRP) and has been endorsed by the Department of National Defense.
The Canadian Comfort and Remembrance Project (CCRP) gives all Canadians an opportunity to show encouragement, support and care to the seriously wounded and to next-of-kin who have lost soldiers in Canadian Forces overseas missions.
You can participate by making a quilt block as part of a quilt, or a quilt that will be presented to the identified recipients on Remembrance Day 2006 (and maybe beyond).
Important Notes on submitting a quilt
Each CCRP quilt should include the following information on a label that is securely attached to the back of the quilt:
→ Canadian Comfort and Remembrance Project
→ A vertical space (1 1/2 -2 inches by width of the label), leaving enough space for the soldier's name and rank to be added when we receive that information.
→ The name of the group or guild who made the quilt.
→ The name of the person(s) who quilted it.
→ The address of the guild, if you wish.
→ The year (eg. 2006, 2007, etc.)
Simple washing instructions may also be included, e.g. Wash in cool water, dry on medium heat until slightly damp. Hang to dry completely before using or storing.
Each CCRP quilt will have a fabric heart (the same as in the centre of the CCRP block) appliqued onto the back near the label, with the signature of the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Rick Hillier, as a gesture of his support for the families who have lost a loved one.
