Fall, 2008
Dear Quilters,
With the frost on the pumpkin and gardeners finishing up for the season, my focus is on completing projects in time for gift giving. The team at Picket Fence Fabrics has been busy preparing for Christmas. There are new samples on display throughout the shop. We have revised our November schedule to include some wonderful
finish-in-a-day classes. If you cannot fit a class into your busy schedule we can help. Many of the classes have
kits available with full instructions.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to Faith, the newest member of our Team. Faith makes wonderful shortbread cookies and is an enthusiastic quilter.
The beginners in the quilting and rug hooking classes are busy completing their projects. Here is a picture of their first paper-pieced trees. Drop by the shop to sign up for Jane Cuthbert’s rug hooking class session starting in January. The beginner’s quilt sampler is also on display and the new session starts January 14.
Paper Piecing is a great way to get accurate points and detailed images in your quilts. If you haven’t tried this technique we are offering the class again, Saturday, November 8. Participants make a variety of tree blocks that can then be worked into a small quilt.
Susan Clow’s Light and Shadow class is being offered again November 25. Susan’s classes are popular so sign up early.
A complete list of November classes is listed
here.
We are delighted to be one of two shops at the South Shore Quilters Guild Show in St. Lambert, October 30 to November 2. I am looking forward to catching up with friends from the Montreal area. Drop by to see us at the show being held at the St. Lambert Golf Club.
We look forward to welcoming our out-of town visitors at our new location this fall. Directions to the shop are
here. See you soon!
Yours,
In stitches
Jennifer
Victoria's Quilts'
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and with the help of our customers we are making a quilt to give to Victoria’s Quilts Canada
(www.victoriasquiltscanada.com ). Drop by the shop for the instruction sheet and a free demo on how to make a 3-D flying goose for the block. The blocks already received are also on display in the classroom.
BLACK & WHITE FABRIC CHALLENGE 2008
There are a few kits lefts and still time to complete your entry in our Black and White Challenge. You can win a $100 gift certificate and fabric prizes. Even if you don’t complete a piece for the Challenge you are welcome to drop by in January to vote on your favourite. For those who must have colour, addition of a single colour is permitted.
